March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month

 The Area Substance Abuse Council (ASAC), in collaboration with the Iowa Department of Public Health and the National Council on Problem Gambling, dedicates March to helping people “have the conversation” about problem gambling. Approximately 2 million (1%) of U.S. adults are estimated to meet criteria for Gambling Disorder and another 4-6 million (2-3%) would be considered problem gamblers; yet for many, gambling remains a hidden addiction.

Benton County Prepares for COVID-19

By Benton County Public HealthBenton County Public Health is advising residents about what they can do now to prepare for the potential spread of the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19. To date, no one in Iowa has tested positive for COVID-19.“Since the start of this outbreak, Benton County Public Health has worked closely with the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) to monitor potential cases of COVID-19,” said Benton County Public Health Director Katie Cox BSN, RN.
